How to Make Movie Credits From an Excel Spreadsheet Document

Making movie credits from an excel spreadsheet document is very easy. The great thing about this feature is that managing and creating your video titles can be done just about anywhere. From your IPhone while on set during filming, from your Android phone while waiting for stage for a scene, from your IPad on a train, from your Macintosh or Windows computer at home or on the road or even from a web-based spreadsheet application such as google documents or zoho.

Once your excel spreadsheet document is created, you will need to import it into VideoTagger. VideoTagger will import each sheet of the document, one at a time. Each sheet is converted into a new section of movie credits, which can be fully customized from within the VideoTagger application. Allowing you the freedom, convenience and confidence in organizing your video titles before you even touch a video editor.

The following tutorial is organized into 2 pieces. The first will outline how to format your excel spreadsheet for different types of movie credit section, the second explain in detail how to import your Excel document into VideoTagger and customize it.

Step 1: VideoTagger supports two of the most common section formats for your Excel spreadsheets. VideoTagger's Excel Importer supports "Roles & Names" and "Names Only" sections, the most commonly used section types. Each sheet of your Excel Document creates a new Section within VideoTagger. The "Section" be labelled by the same name as the "Sheet" label. The type of section created (Roles & Names) or (Names) is determined by the first row of the "Sheet".

If the first row of the sheet contains only one entry in the first column, a names only section will be created. A "Names Only" sheet will import all text entered into the first column. So if you are creating a "Stunt Person" "Section", then each name of each stuntman should appear in the left-most column, row by row. If a row is skipped, it will end the import process for that "Sheet".

If the first row of the sheet contains two entries in the first and second columns, a "Roles & Names" "Section" will be created. A "Roles & Names" "Sheet" will import all text entered in the first and second columns. So if you are creating a "Cast" "Section", then the "Roles" should be listed in Column 1 and the Names of each actor should be placed in column 2. Each "Role & Name" will be read row by row. If a row is skipped, it will end the import process for that "Sheet".

Create as many "Sheets" as you would like "Sections" created. Each sheet will generate a section of movie credits upon import. Re-ogranizing the "Sheets" prior to import will re-organize the order of the sections that are imported, however this can just as easily be done after the import process has completed.

An example Excel Spreadsheet that can be imported can be found here.
